Planning to visit?

Our exhibits are currently designed for children ages 1 to 7 and some exhibits are designed for the older child as they could contain small parts.  All children are welcomed but our current exhibits are best experienced for ages 2 to 7.  (Younger visitors will have the very best experience during our Exploring Music Class held Wednesdays from 10:00 am to 10:45 am and Wiggles and Giggles on Fridays 10:00 am to 10:45 am.)  Some mornings can be a bit busy with younger children so if you prefer a more quiet time, consider visiting after the noon hour.

Plan on a day filled with fun and exploration with your child!  Here at CME we strive to ensure the safety of all of our visitors but is the sole responsibility of parents, grandparents and caregivers to monitor your child at all times.

For the health and safety of our visitors, shoes are a requirement for all children and adults.

Have you heard?  The Wild Place, a fenced, attractive, educational and developmentally appropriate outdoor extension of the museum, is undergoing renovation.  In the summer of 2024, CME will unveil a redesigned Wild Place with new age-appropriate equipment, enticing trails and areas to sit, relax and enjoy nature.

CME is committed to maintaining an inclusive and welcoming environment for our visitors.  The side door (handicap entrance) and lower level doors are locked for safety and security reasons.  CME does not have an elevator at this time, but we do have ramps that have access to our Main Exhibit Hall as well as our MakerSpace and Birthday Party room. We will gladly assist you as needed.

Wheelchair Accessibility

A visitor using a wheelchair will be admitted free along with one child or companion.  Wheelchair accessibility is located by the side door (to the right of the museum).  CME does not have an elevator at this time but we do have ramps that access the Main Exhibit Hall and lower level where our MakerSpace Exhibit and Party rooms are located.  Kindly call CME upon your arrival at 508-230-3789 and a staff person will open the side door to assist you.

Strollers are best left outside.  CME is a historical building with limited floor space and no elevator.  When planning your visit, kindly consider bringing an on-the-body child carrier or backpack as they are a better option considering the stairs and building layout.  If a stroller is necessary, please enter by the side door (by the handicap entrance) and a staff person will let you in.

Food and Drink

Food and drink are not permitted inside the Museum. It is our goal to keep the Museum safe for all visitors especially those with food allergies.
