Group Visits

Can groups and schools visit the Museum?

Yes!  CME has reserved Thursdays for group visits.  (Other days may be available based on what is happening inside CME on that day.  No group visits are allowed on Wednesdays.)

Time spent exploring CME is limited to 2 hours inside the museum.  If our outside learning center is open, an additional 30 minutes can be added to explore that area.  During the outside time a snack/lunch can be consumed.  Unfortunately, if the outside is not available during your visit, you will need to make other arrangements else where for a snack/lunch.

What age is best to visit the Museum?

Our interactive exhibits are designed to serve the developmental and creative needs of ages 1 to 6. If you are planning to visit during the week when school is open, the average age of our visitor at the Museum will most likely be between 1 and 3 so we need to take that into consideration if and when we book your group. You will also be required to have one chaperone for every 5 children supervise the children at all times.

How do we explore the Museum?

The Museum is self-guided.  After a brief orientation by Museum staff, you can explore the Museum’s three floors of interactive exhibits.

What if I have fewer than 20 children in my group?

Full admission will be charged for each child.

What about chaperones?

One adult chaperone is required for every five children.  These chaperones are admitted free.  Additional chaperones will be admitted at the groups’ reduced rate.

Where does our bus drop us off?

On the day of your visit, there is a designated spot in the back of the museum for bus drop off and pick up.  Buses can not unload or load in front of the Museum!  There is no bus parking along Sullivan Avenue.  There are many municipal lots in the surrounding area where the bus may park.

What is the cost per person and payment options?

Groups pre-booked with CME must have 20 or more children to receive the reduced rate of $8 per child.  Only the classroom teacher is admitted free.  Since a chaperone is required for every 5 children, CME will admit this chaperone for free.  Payment is due in full on the day of your visit.  The Museum does NOT accept purchase orders for group visits.  Payment can be presented in the form of cash, check or credit card upon your arrival.

Are groups able to visit the Museum without booking a specific date and time?

Yes, Full price admission will be charged.
