About The Children's Museum Easton
CME's Strategic Plan
Process
In April 2024, the Board of Directors established a Strategic Planning Team (SPT) subcommittee/working group dedicated to designing the Strategic Plan of CME for the next three years. Under the facilitation of our consultant, Neil Gordon, former CEO of the Discovery Museum in Acton, MA, the group worked diligently during four workshops to identify goals and pathways to meet staff and board expectations to deliver exceptional services to all children and their caregivers. There was a genuine focus on creating an inviting place for families to interact and learn through hands-on play. We do so even though there are constraints to a historic building, which needs some repair and upgrades for 21st-century inclusiveness.
After reviewing and updating the Museum’s mission and vision statements, the group established five key goals with multiple action items to accomplish over the next three years. Hearty conversations took place about organizational and material needs and rethinking and formalizing various processes for the Museum. Our plan results from a desire to continue to be a beacon to early childhood education and provide a fun, engaging space to nurture a love of learning.
The following goals and actions will inform the policy and spending decisions of the Board of Directors. Our measurable benchmarks are listed in this plan and will be our main criteria for evaluation, program implementation, and other strategic decision making in an effort to realize all goals to guide development, grow curiosity and foster community at the Children’s Museum Easton.
