Once your children are walking about, let them pick books that look interesting to them. Have a little truckster? Fill up on books about cars and trucks – try Dad’s Car Wash substituting your child’s name for John’s or You Can Name 100 Trucks – look for the yellow van on every page. At one point I actually could name 100 trucks I read so many car books! Princess in waiting residing at your house? Pull out the fairy tales and decide what you actually read-aloud – some are scary so edit your version to provide a little small thrill. Our favorite fairy tale book was one my dad read to me when I was little – maybe my grandfather read it to him when he was little – the copyright is 1921. No matter how old your child is make some time, get comfy and read aloud to them – I hope you’ll find the experience fun and relaxing!
