SUMMARY:Alexander Calder Kinetic Sculptures
DESCRIPTION:Sculptures don’t have to stand still. Inspired by our Artist of the Month Alexander Calder\, kids will explore how shapes\, space\, and motion work together as they design their own kinetic sculptures. As pieces respond to the smallest touch of air\, young artists will see how movement becomes part of the artwork itself.  Free with admission or a CME membership\, while supplies last.

SUMMARY:Tuesday Studio
DESCRIPTION:Alexander Calder Spirals – Alexander Calder\, our Artist of the Month\, loved to make art that moved your eyes—and sometimes even moved in the air! In his spiral drawings\, he used black lines that loop and swirl across white paper\, adding bright red\, yellow\, and blue shapes along the way. Kids can explore how simple spirals and shapes can create energy\, movement\, and a whole lot of fun.

SUMMARY:
DESCRIPTION:April’s Artist of the Month is Claude Monet\, a French artist who loved to paint the world around him. Monet was very observant. He paid close attention to small details many people might miss\, like how light sparkles on water or how colors change when clouds pass overhead. He painted nature scenes again and again\, noticing how the light and reflections changed each day. By watching the world so carefully\, Monet showed others how beautiful everyday moments can be. We’ll make art inspired by the great Monet all month in both MakerSpace and Tuesday Studio.

SUMMARY:Monet's Lilly Pads
DESCRIPTION:You’ll twist. You’ll turn. And quite possibly you’ll shout when you see the results of this process art technique! Blindly mix colors between two paper plates and be amazed by the end product. Simple but highly effective\, this Tuesday Studio activity is inspired by our Artist of the Month\, Claude Monet and his beloved water lily pads.

SUMMARY:Artist of the Month
DESCRIPTION:Georgia O’Keeffe\, our Artist of the Month\, was an American painter who loved to see the world in her own special way. She decided she wanted to be an artist when she was just 10 years old! In her art\, Georgia used lines\, colors\, and shading to show how she felt. She often looked very closely at things—like flowers\, bones\, and landscapes—and then painted them in creative\, imaginative ways. Look for activities inspired by her art throughout May. \n“Busy as a bee” doesn’t even begin to describe the workload of these incredible pollinators. About 1 in every 3 bites of food we eat exists thanks to their work—apples\, strawberries\, blueberries\, even almonds depend on them! But bees are in trouble. Populations are declining due to habitat loss\, pesticides\, and climate change. The good news? Even small actions—like planting flowers—can make a big difference. This month\, we’re shining a spotlight on the industrious bee and celebrating World Bee Day on May 20

SUMMARY:Busy Bees
DESCRIPTION:Did you know bumblebees buzz not just when they fly\, but also when they pollinate? Their fast-flapping wings create that familiar buzzing sound in flight\, but they also use something called buzz pollination. That’s when they cling to a flower and vibrate their flight muscles (without even flying!) to shake loose the pollen. Pretty clever\, right? These amazing little pollinators are the inspiration for today’s craft!  Free with admission or a CME membership\, while supplies last.
